Synopsis:

Heather's skill is archery. King Chance's skill is treachery. Who will win?

When a beautiful commoner enters the Tournament of Chance archery competition, her thwarted victory sparks a revolution in the oppressive kingdom of Destiny. Although Heather never believed the legends about the restoration of Ormaria, after three shape-shifting Ormarian wizards awaken from a long magical slumber, she joins their perilous quest to regain the throne. Heather battles vicious predators and angry trolls to free the wizards’ magic, but at a horrendous cost. She is unexpectedly torn from the arms of the man she loves and hurled back in time to fulfill a prophecy not yet written. The ensuing maelstrom tests Heather’s survival skills, wits, and endurance. Will she become an unwritten footnote in history, or can she trust the magic to lead her back to her one true love?

My Review

When I first started reading Tournament of Chance I wasn't sure what to expect but after reading a few chapters I was completely captivated. The story really appealed to my fantasy-loving side and I loved the world S.G. Rogers created. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enoyed this book.

The main character was Heather and while I was really interested in her story, I was just as caught up in the lives of the other characters. They were gorgeous to read about and they wer all unique and individual - I loved it!

Heather was head-strong, fun, brave, passionate and loyal and I loved her from the start, Dane was also another love-at-first-meet character. He was smug, sexy and there was just enough warmth in his hard, judgemental stance for me to find him absolutely drool-worthy. As soon as Dane came into the picture, sparks between he and Heather began to fly. The pacing of their relationship wasn't too fast, which I liked, and their chemistry was brilliant.

The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the style of writing, it just felt a bit plain to me. After the first couple of chapters though, I warmed up to the writing and my previous doubts fled to the back of my mind as I became so hooked on the story.

I really loved the plot! Just when I thought I'd figured out what direction we were going in, a hole opened infront of me and I fell down a wonderful, new path. Some parts of the story I saw coming, but most of it was unexpected and a blast to read.

This book was a great mix of fantasy, dragons, trolls, magic, monarchs, love, hope, loss and an amazing cast of characters. I had so much fun living Heather's story and I want to read more by S.G. Rogers and see what other magical worlds she can create!

Tens List with S.G. Rogers

Top Ten Pet Hates

1. Constant cell phone use, any place, any occasion, any time.

2. Habitual bragging about one’s perfect children and their astounding, incomparable achievements.

3. I try to respect a myriad of political beliefs BUT political statements of a self-righteous, smug nature, particularly when the assertions brook no debate, drive me up the wall.

4. Complaints about wishing to shape up your size zero body.

5. If you possess a dog that weighs more than I do, slobbers, and cannot be controlled, I will not visit your house.

6. If you dress your little girl in clothing with the word ‘juicy’ on her behind, don’t expect me to ever speak to you again.

7. A man who soups up his car to function as a rolling audio weapon should anticipate early hearing loss and my hearty dislike.

8. Gum-chewing, hours on end. (I should invent a brand of gum called Cud and make a million bucks.)

9. I promise not to reveal my rolls of fat to you if you promise not to reveal your rolls of fat to me. Buy shirts that cover everything, for pity’s sake.

10. Don’t tailgate me. Ever. End of story.

I have to agree with everything on this list, except for the big slobbering dogs because I've had both a pet malamute and a pyrannean, so complaining about big dogs wouldn't exactly be fair. Another thing I'd proabably add, alongside not covering fat-rolls, is wearing tights/leggings as pants; please don't do it. It's not attractive and it makes me cry a little inside.

A big thank you to S.G Rogers for sharing her top ten pet hates. They were a joy to read and I had a little giggle to myself!
