Moonlit by Jadie Jones Blog Tour - Interview + Giveaway

Moonlit by Jadie Jones
Publication Date: 16th April 2013 by WiDo Publishing

Eighteen-year-old Tanzy Hightower knows horses, has grown up with them on Wildwood Farm. She also knows not to venture beyond the trees that line the pasture. Things happen out there that can’t be explained. Or undone. Worse, no one but she and the horses can see what lurks in the shadows of the woods.

When a moonlit ride turns into a terrifying chase, Tanzy is left to question everything, from the freak accident that killed her father to the very blood in her veins. Broken and confused, she turns to Lucas, a scarred, beautiful stranger, and to Vanessa, a charming new friend who has everything Tanzy doesn’t.

But why do they seem to know more about her than she knows herself?

Interview with Jadie Jones

Tell us a little bit about your book, Moonlit.
Farm girl Tanzy Hightower thinks her life is painfully routine. In one night, she loses everything she loves, including the blood in her veins, which unbeknownst to Tanzy, is replaced with something very old and definitely not human. She must find answers about what really happened that night, and what it means for her future, before the forces who set this in motion find her.

What is the best thing about being a published author?
I think the best thing is realizing that people still think that writers are special. My publisher is small, and this is my first book, but people who I meet are still automatically a fan of what I do, even if they haven’t read Moonlit. That’s very cool.

Which character was your favourite to write? Vanessa Andrews has been my favorite mind to explore. She was the clearest character from the very beginning. She knows what she wants and she won’t stop at anything to get it. She’s also a southern girl, so it was fun to add in a few cultural traits and habits.

What was your favourite book/series/author when you were growing up? I loved R.L. Stein and his Fear Street series. I would stay in bed all weekend and read. I lived to be scared.

What's your favourite thing to do to relax and unwind? Sit on my back porch and drink hot tea. Nature is my happy place.

What three book characters would you invite to a dinner party and why? Alec from “The Black Stallion” series by Walter Farley. I had a huge book-crush on him growing up. Trixie from the Trixie Belden series. She’s smart, tough, and she stands up for what she thinks is right. She’s my kind of girl. Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have dinner with Gandalf?

Where is your favourite place to go for inspiration? I am very inspired by moving water. It’s akin to magic for me. The sound of it helps my mind slide away, and staring into it makes me space out instantaneously. The beach is a favorite, but a river or creek will do just fine!

Do you have anything planned for the future? I am nearly ready to submit the sequel to Moonlit to by publisher, and will begin outlining the third and final book. I also have a New Adult fiction book planned, which I will focus on after the Moonlit series is complete. I will appear as a contributor to a non-profit anthology titled “Indiestructible,” which comes out this September, and will raise money for BuildOn – a NFP that works to break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy.

Thank you for having me!!

Thank you for sharing Jadie!
