Catching Liam by Sophia Bleu Blog Tour - Interview + Giveaway

Catching Liam (Good Girls Don't, #1)

Catching Liam (Good Girls Don't #1) by Sophia Bleu
NA Contemporary Romance
Published: Summer 2013

Twenty-one year-old Jillian Nichols only has one rule when it comes to boys: catch and release. Boy-catching isn't just a game for Jillian and her friends, it's a lifestyle. After all, boys might be good for a dance or a drink and certainly a little under-cover action of the scandalous variety, but expect much else and you're bound for heart ache.

So when her best friends and fellow boy catchers start dropping like flies junior year, Jillian is determined to keep boys in her bedroom and out of her heart. Until she meets Liam McAvoy, the kind of guy that sticks around to make waffles and who can't—or perhaps won't—take a hint.

Study abroad student Liam doesn't want to be another notch on Jillian's bedpost. Actually he has much more interesting ideas for Jillian and her bedposts, but his student visa's set expiration date means he can't promise her forever. That doesn't mean he's going to walk away from the challenge of discovering why Jillian is hell-bent at keeping people at a distance.

Before long, neither is sure who is catching who—or if they're playing for keeps. Jillian knows one thing though: falling in love will not only break the only rule of boy-catching, it could also break her heart.

Interview with Sophia Bleu

When did you decide you wanted to write contemporary romance novels?

I’ve always loved contemporary romance novels.  I started writing them in college, so about ten years ago, but I never finished one.  I actually cut my writing and publishing teeth in science fiction much to my surprise, but I’m happy to be back writing contemporary.

What genre is your favourite to read, and what's your favourite to write (if they're different)?

I love reading contemporary novels, whether they are YA or adult.  Although my other favorite would be literary fantasy (think A Discovery of Witches... Matthew? Yum.)  I write in several genres, and as long as there’s kissing in the books, I’m happy.

Definitely agree with you there. I love fantasy and a little bit of kissing always makes a book sweeter. ;)
Who is currently your #1 book boyfriend?

That is so hard to say.  I’m crushing on Cross from Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series, but I also have a mammoth crush on Hudson Pierce from Fixed on You and Cole from By Referral Only.  Wait, you said #1?  I have to choose one?  What circle of hell is this?

Hehe, I like my questions to have a bit of evil. ;)
Which of your characters was the hardest to write?

Tara, because I can see the good in her, even though most readers can’t.  Probably because Tara is really bad at showing it.  It’s just who she is.

Where's your favourite place to go for inspiration?

The beach.  We recently moved near the ocean and I find it very calming.

Unless my kids are with me and then I’m just in a near state of panic, because they are terrible swimmers and I’m even worse.  And sharks!  It’s the ocean, and I’ve seen Jaws.

But all that nervousness gets pent up and I release it into my novels at home, so I can glean inspiration from most situations.

How has publishing Catching Liam affected you and your life?

This book came along at the right time for me and I had a lot of fun writing it.  I’d had a stressful year with writing deadlines and contracts, and Liam was a wild ride.  I enjoyed every minute of writing it, which was so refreshing.

Any future stories in the works?

I’m working on two companions novels featuring Jess and Cassie right now, and a bunch of other stuff.  My brain never stops.

And finally, if you were told you had to live on a deserted island and the only items you're allowed to take to the island are three books, what books would you choose?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Anne of Green Gables
A notebook

Thank you Sophia! A notebook- what a great idea, I would definitely need to take one of them with me!
