For the Love of Chocolate: Super Secret Chocolate Sauce Recipe!

To celebrate the release of Rachel Harris's newest book, The Fine Art of Pretending, she has given her Flirt Squad members the task of sharing a post that tells a little bit more about us and also ties in with her new book. We have several post options to choose from and we can do as many or as few of them as we like but today I've chosen to post a recipe. This is not just any recipe, it's a super-secret, totally delicious, you'll-be-begging-for-more chocolate sauce recipe to serve with ice-cream of your choosing. This post of course pays homage to Aly, one of the MC's from The Fine Art of Pretending, and her obsession with snackage and baking!

My Super Secret Chocolate Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
-3 big, heaped tablespoons of cocoa powder
-½ tablespoons cornflour
-1 ½ cups of water
-2 tablespoons of golden syrup
-1 cup sugar
-1 ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence (or almond essence, whatever you prefer)
-1 teaspoon of butter

Method
-Mix half the water with the cocoa powder and cornflour in a small bowl to make a lump-free paste. Place the rest of the water in a small saucepan with the golden syrup and sugar and bring to the boil.
-Once the sugar has dissolved, pour the boiling mixture over the cocoa and cornflour mixture in a thin stream stirring all the time. Return entire mixture to stove in saucepan. (You can also pour the cocoa mixture into he sugar mixture, just make sure to remove it from the heat first and don't stop stirring!)
-Continually stir the sauce for about 5 minutes until it starts to thicken, then add the vanilla essence and butter.
-Set aside for a few minutes to thicken more and then you can either serve it hot or wait for it to cool (with ice-cream)!
-Enjoy!

This is the best chocolate sauce I've ever tasted, so I hope you enjoy it too! I think it came from an old cookbook my Nan's Nan used to have, so it's tried and tested! Now, to tell you a little bit about Rachel's fabulous new book!

Enter best friend Brandon Taylor, the school’s second biggest hottie, and now Aly’s pretend boyfriend. With his help, elevating from “funny friend” to “tempting vixen” is only a matter of time.

But when everything goes according to plan, the inevitable “break up” leaves their friendship in shambles, and Aly and Brandon with feelings they can’t explain. And the fake couple discovers pretending can sometimes cost you the one thing you never expected to want.
