As an offensive linewoman for the Cleveland Clash, Tanya Martin is tough inside and out. The 5'9" beauty can take a hit and keep on going. But when the man she was best friends with - and secretly in love with - in high school comes home the same day she learns her father's gym is in financial trouble, she's unexpectedly blindsided.
Super Bowl MVP Cam Simmons is only back in town to convince his mom to move out of her failing neighborhood and live in luxury with him in Boston. But running into Tanya stirs up plenty of old feelings he never resolved. He was happy to leave his old life behind him when he hit the NFL, but walking away from their friendship was a mistake he wants to rectify.
As they work together to help save her dad's gym, Cam and Tanya's easy camaraderie and undeniable chemistry resurface. But can she open up enough to trust him with her heart a second time around?
Interview with Elley Arden
How did you come up with the idea for Running Interference?
Tanya Martin, the heroine in RUNNING INTERFERENCE, first appeared as a secondary character in HEAL MY HEART (Kemmons Bros. Baseball 3). My editor loved Tanya, so I made a bit of a joke in the comments of my revisions that I'd be open to writing her story and an entire series about women football players. My editor contracted the series immediately.
Do you have a favourite character from Running Interference, or one you enjoyed writing more?
I adore Tanya's friend, Jillian, who is a bit of a wild child. I'm such a good girl that I live vicariously through Jillian--something I got to do a lot when I wrote her HEA in CROSSING LINES (Clash 2).
What is your favourite part about being an author?
I like creating people and places and having complete control over those things. I also like being able to guarantee a happy ending. I so wish I could do that in real life.
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I spend a lot of time hanging out with my family and friends. I adore good food and wine, so I usually combine those things with social gatherings. I also enjoy watching sports live and on television, and I'm a hobby interior decorator, who will work for wine.
Who inspires you and your writing (authors, friends, family)?
Everyone inspires my actual stories. I take bits and pieces from life all around me. But, if you're asking if someone inspires me to actually sit and write, then the answer would be my family. I want them to see me go after and achieve my dreams.
What are you currently working on?
I'm currently writing the third book in the Clash series, KEEPING SCORE, which features a Korean-American heroine and a sports radio "shock jock" hero. There's lots of on- and off-field fun to be had in this one!

Charming characters. Emotional stories. Sexy romance.
