I’m going to make you wish you were dead.

Just a text. Seventeen-year-old Rebecca Hales tries not to worry. Probably a wrong number. Not really meant for her, and definitely not related to the crime she witnessed six years ago. Right?

Then two states away, a bomb goes off in her best friend's locker. Soon Ryan is labeled a terrorist and runs to the safest place he knows—Rebecca’s house in small-town Wyoming. It doesn’t take long for the FBI to show up asking questions. Rebecca lies, of course, and says she hasn’t seen him.

Now she's neck-deep in it with him, whatever "it" is. The only way out is to return to Vegas, where Ryan is a wanted man. The city of lies and illusion tests Rebecca’s wits as she struggles to find the person who framed Ryan and why.

Is Rebecca’s text linked to the bombing? And what does it have to do with a six year old murder? Rebecca needs to find out before she loses Ryan—and her own life.

My Review

I wasn't entirely sure what this book as going to be about, I obviously had a rough idea from the synopsis but I didn't know how serious and realistic and dangerously delicious it was actually going to be. This is a YA romantic thriller at its best!

I found the story to be really believable even though it's not something I can see happening where I live, I can definitely believe that people will go to such extreme lengths for revenge. Something I could sadly, but no so shockingly, believe was the small town blaming Rebecca for "killing" their prized sport hero. Rebecca sent away a crazed rapist and murderer but all the town folk could see was their championship dreams fading before their eyes. Sadly people can be this shallow. I love that the author had such different characters, some shallow, some selfless, and some just plain evil.

The relationships in this book were great, especially Ryan and Rebecca's, their friendship was so strong and selfless, it was a wonder to behold. The other characters and relationships were great too, even the baddies, though their greatness was more a you're-so-evil-it's-giving-me-the-shivers-but-I-love-how-well-crafted-your-character-is greatness than a nice, 'I'm rootin' for you' greatness. I'm pretty sure I said 'greatness' too many times in that sentence but I don't care because this book is full of, you guessed it, GREATNESS! ;)

Before They Find Us is an intense, gritty read and the author isn't afraid to delve into dark places which is what makes this book so great. It's real and powerful and I loved every second. The only problem was that the book ended all too soon, I wanted to live in it forever, but then I wouldn't get to experience all the other amazing books out there! It was a story I was very reluctant to leave which is one of the highest compliments I can give. Love, love, loved it!
